Kim and David Briscall’s year-round landscaping and maintenance company is doing it all for homeowners and commercial property owners in the greater Southington area. The couple’s professional team takes on jobs as small as tidying up yards to brush-clearing and major landscaping including leveling, grading and building retaining walls. They also plow snow. “One call does it all,” says Briscall Lawn and Landscape co-owner Kim Briscall.

Clean and simple as that may all sound today, the Briscalls cleared major obstacles of their own in 2006 to relocate their thriving Florida business to Connecticut so that they could be closer to the rest of their family. Like many people starting over at the end of the current decade, they faced credit issues. Fortune reversed however when they turned to CEDF. “CEDF helped us through with their offering of nontraditional financing, they looked beyond our credit score and took an interest in us and our business plan,” Kim Briscall says. With a CEDF loan they bought equipment they needed to restart, and re-growth began.

Southington and Bristol customers count on Briscall’s for weekly maintenance services and Briscall’s has seen its radius expand, especially for heavier work, where they work as far north as Granby. Says Kim Briscall, “We are grateful for the help CEDF has given us. Moving the business we started in 1999 was a long process but was worth it in the end.”
